Earl. This is Earl Ofari Hutchinson. Welcome to another edition of my weekly Hutchinson Report. The question, which is definitely a burning question ever since multi billionaire, the world’s richest man. Let’s give him his props.

[00:00:19.16] – Speaker 1

Elon Musk decided in tweet after tweet about 70 tweets, we’re going to, I’m going to say no to a spending bill, the temporary budget spending bill. You know, much controversy about that, much debate about that, much discussion about that. Trump finally weighed in and said, no deal. Get it off the table, go back again with a new spending bill, one that I like. Musk was the one, the point man on that.

[00:00:47.17] – Speaker 1

Many people ask, is Musk really running the show? Is Musk really the kink maker? Is Musk really the make or break deal maker? Is Musk the Seattle president? Some even say President Musk.

[00:01:02.18] – Speaker 1

There’s another disturbing feature about that. If that’s the case, whether true or not, how much influence or not, that’s almost beside the point. There’s a bigger point, the fact he’s even there at the table on policy decisions that involve the government and tens of millions of people’s lives. We know that Musk has a history with his ex, of course, formerly Twitter. His tweets, they have been racially gender, same sex, inflammatory, LGBT inflammatory, but especially racially inflammatory.

[00:01:40.25] – Speaker 1

He’s of South African origin. We’re not going to hold that against him. But the fact of the matter is when you look at a graphic, something like that, he proudly tweeted. And by the way, it’s not unusual. We’ve seen much of that from US dei, you know, the updated version of affirmative action must die.

[00:02:00.08] – Speaker 1

He didn’t waste any words on that. Very clear on where he stood on that and also very clear on where he stands on a lot of things racially. I’ve never seen any African Americans, Hispanics around Musk. I’ve never seen him parleying with him, talking to them, discussing issues with him. I’ve never seen Musk engaging African Americans on any level.

[00:02:23.26] – Speaker 1

I certainly have not seen any evidence that Musk has supported African American. Certainly need causes and God forbid, don’t even think about civil rights groups. That’s out of the question. So having said that about Musk, we have to wonder now, this inordinate power and influence that money can buy. That’s right.

[00:02:46.04] – Speaker 1

We certainly know the power of the dollar. We certainly know it can buy a lot. Up to including politicians and elected officials. Up to including with the threatened government’s shutdown because of the spending Bill, that didn’t happen. It wasn’t going to happen.

[00:03:04.19] – Speaker 1

The fact of the matter is Musk actually controlled the narrative for much of that. So there’s no doubt about it, there’s no debate about it, there’s really no discussion about it. The man has influence. The man has clout. The man has.

[00:03:19.22] – Speaker 1

And that translates into ultimately, possibly and even more frighteningly control. Control, control. In other words, influencing tens of millions of people their lives. Now of course, he’s now the co chair of the so called Doge Department of Government Efficiency. He’s already said we’re going to cut $2 trillion from where they’re not going to touch the military.

[00:03:47.06] – Speaker 1

They get everything they want. You’re going to have more tax cuts. Corporations, the big corporations are going to get everything they want in the wealthy. So where are these cuts going to come from? Where are they going to come from?

[00:03:59.07] – Speaker 1

I don’t think you need to be a rocket scientist or have a Ouija board or of a fortune telling bubble to figure out farmers, workers, those in need on support payments, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and we can go down the checklist of all the aid, support and assistance program, health, education and welfare that are in danger of an Elon Musk putting his finger, putting his imprint, but more importantly controlling what happens, that is how much money is spent or not spent on programs to help tens of millions of people. The question I ask is, and I think it’s an important question and a pertinent question and maybe even a life or death question when it comes to public policy and government is a unreconstructed or even put more politely, is someone who is a not so closeted bigot actually running the government or running America. This is Earl Ofari Hutchinson. You’ve been listening and watching another edition of the Hutchinson Report.
